About Ladybird Blues Studio
Ladybird Blues Studio is home to the teaching studio of Katie Ravenwood, located in Silver Spring, Maryland, just north of Washington, D.C.
Lessons are available both online and in person* by appointment only, and spots are selectively made available throughout the year to prospective students.
I believe that everyone has the talent necessary to make music. You just have to find the right motivation and nurture it.

Katie began her career as a teacher in 1994, and has worked with students across the world, from all 50 U.S. states, Washington, D.C., and Puerto Rico as well as internationally with students located in France, Sweden, Germany, Chile, Peru, Australia, New Zealand, China, Japan, and the Philippines.
Katie has served as a competition judge, guest clinician, and coach for competitions and ensembles across the United States. Her students have participated (and placed) in solo and chamber music competitions and showcases such as the Fischoff Chamber Music Competition, MTNA National Competitions, and NPR’s From The Top. Currently she serves as the Clarinet Choir director for the Maryland Classic Youth Orchestras of Strathmore, one of the Washington, D.C. area’s most prestigious youth ensemble programs, which recently celebrated its 75th season.
Her students work in or have gone on to stellar lives as musicians, doctors, artists, parents, activists, engineers, teachers, lawyers, clergy, mathematicians, scientists, environmentalists, and many other honorable callings.

Would You Like To Join The Studio?
Ladybird Blues Studio offers lessons on piano, flutes, clarinets and saxophones. Multi-instrumentalists are welcome and encouraged to study in whatever combination best suits their goals for learning.
We welcome students of all ages! Currently our youngest student is three and our oldest student is 87. It’s never too early or too late to make music!
The studio is a quiet and focused place to learn, located two blocks from the Glenmont Metro Station in Silver Spring, Maryland.
*Currently the studio is operating under our COVID-19 policy, offering online lessons with restrictions on in-person lessons until further notice, but we are still accepting new students!
